Thank you to the GCBF:
The Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund provided $8,565 to the Mineralogical Society of Queensland Inc. for the purchase of a laptop, computer projector and photomicrographic equipment.

Our Society:

The society currently has over 50 members and is based in Brisbane, Queensland. Its members predominately come from South-East Queensland, but we have quite a few members from northern New South Wales.

We meet on either Wednesday's and Saturdays of every month (excepting December) in the Mt Gravatt Lapidary Society clubrooms located at 1873 Logan Road Mt Gravatt (opposite Macdonalds) in Brisbane. Check the calendar for day and start times of meeting.

Most meetings are well attended, and have stereo microscopes available for mineral viewing and identification. Guest speakers frequently attend, and a 'Mineral of the Month' session enables members to become better acquainted with various mineral species.

We have a keen micro mineral group ('Micromob') who also meet regularly to view and discuss micro minerals. (see calendar for details)

Field trips are held during the year, with the venue being published in our newsletter. The 'Australian Mineral Collector' Internet site has been sponsored for the past 16 years, and aims to make the hobby more educational and accessible.
