Annual Gem Show
Minerama is held annually 2nd weekend in March at Glen Innes, NSW.
In 2010, will be held March 12th to 14th. This gem show is one of the
largest annual gem shows in NSW and features fossicking field trips for
a variety of gems in the area (eg. sapphire, garnet, topaz, quartz
crystals, etc). Field trips are suitable for both beginner and expert
fossickers with some locations not normally open to the public. The gem
show has a large number of traders in gems, lapidary supplies, minerals,
fossils, jewellery and much more with gemmologists/faceting experts in
attendance for advice throughout the weekend.

This year GemKhana is held at the Cessnock Indoor Sports Centre, Cessnock Showground, Mount View Rd,
Cessock.
Over the Labour Day long weekend in October, ie October 2,3,4. Open Sat & Sun 10am-5pm, Sun 9am-midday.
This is the State Gem & Mineral Show and Competition, so there will be plenty of entries - and competition is so strong in some sections, you need nearly 100% to get a placing.
Dealers and tailgaters will will sell everything from rough stones, mountings and beads, through to ready-to-wear jewellery; tools and books. Members will demonstrate some of their lapidary skills.
On site camping is available ($15/night both powered and unpowered) and the Big4 Valley
Vineyard Tourist Park is almost next door for those who prefer more comfort. Cessnock is in the heart of wine country and a popular weekend destination, so book early if staying off-site.
